Seeking Rock Guides who...rock

Coopers Rock Climbing Guides is now accepting Rock Guide applications for our 2016 season. Rock Guides work as a team to facilitate climbing and rappelling at Coopers Rock State Forest. The right candidates will be rewarded with excellent coworkers and excellent pay for doing something they love.

Responsibilities

Rock Guides will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that our clients have a safe and fun experience during every trip
  •  Assisting clients with proper wear of safety and climbing gear
  • Belaying customers while top rope climbing and rappelling
  • Building top rope and belayed-rappel anchors to industry standards
  • Clearly and effectively communicating with customers at all times
  • Coaching, encouraging, and celebrating with our clients
  • Complying with CRCG Safety and Risk Management guidelines at all times
  • Contributing feedback and suggestions to help us continually improve our customer experience and operations

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Wilderness First Responder (WFR) preferred but First Aid/CPR accepted
  • Experience building natural and artificial top rope climbing anchors
  • Experience belaying climbers
  • Ability to climb at least 5.8 comfortably
  • An obvious and visible passion for sharing climbing activities with others, including beginners
  • Climbing-related certifications are preferred but not required given acceptable experience

Part Time/Full Time

This position is part time seasonal but may lead to a full time seasonal opportunity based on performance and trip availability.
